Climbing Returns to the 2025 Huntsman World Senior Games

Climbing is back at the Huntsman World Senior Games, and excitement is already building as athletes from across the country prepare to take on the walls once again at Contact Climbing Gym in St. George.

Registration is now closed, but the community is invited to come cheer on the competitors and celebrate the growing presence of this dynamic sport among active seniors.

An Instant Favorite

When climbing made its debut at the Huntsman World Senior Games in 2024, it brought a fresh sense of challenge and inspiration to participants and spectators alike. The event drew athletes in their 50s through 80s, all eager to test their strength, balance, and focus in a setting designed for camaraderie and fun.

That inaugural year highlighted just how inclusive the sport can be, offering a rewarding mix of physical fitness and mental discipline that appeals to people of all experience levels. It proved that climbing isn’t just a test of endurance but a celebration of agility, problem-solving, and lifelong adventure.

Growing Interest Among Active Seniors

The addition of climbing to the Games reflects a wider trend: more adults are staying active and embracing new challenges well into their later years. Climbing, in particular, offers a unique balance of physical fitness and mental focus, and with today’s safe indoor facilities, modern equipment, and expert guidance, it has become a sport that’s both accessible and invigorating for senior athletes.

In its return this year, the Huntsman World Senior Games expects an even larger turnout and plenty of enthusiasm from returning climbers who first discovered the sport last year. Events will include speed, lead, and top rope climbing, giving athletes the chance to push their limits and support one another in the process.
